GPE_RedAlert: The Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has entered #Nekemt in #EastWollega zone in #Oromia Region. Nekemt is a city that has a high number of ethnic Amhara residents, given past actions of OLA in western Oromia region, this is very concerning. Residents reported that gunshots are being heard. The Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) maintains that they do not anymore control the army, however OLF does not condemn the heinous crimes being committed by the army. In fact, officials both from the OLF and Oromo Federalist Congress (OFC) parties have in the past defended the army. The ruling party from the region, Oromo Prosperity Party (OPP) has in the past given amnesty to OLA fighters who committed crimes against humanity in the name of reconciliation. Reports from other zones in Wollega that were overridden by OLA indicate that the regional forces and local officials worked in tandem with the invading OLA forces. Considering the above background, there is no guarantee that any regional force will be either willing or capable to save #Amharas in Nekemt! Anyone within the Ethiopian governmental structure, or anyone who holds any diplomatic leverage over the government should put pressure to avert this imminent danger of large scale atrocity against ethnic Amharas
