Developing situation
GPE_AtrocityReport: over 325 ethnic Amharas were killed in the #WestWollega Zone #Gimbi Woreda #Tole Kebele(precinct). The targeted Amharas were killed in areas called Silsaw, Dejene, Asosa Sefer and Area 13.
Survivors reported that they have counted over 325 bodies but were able to bury only 243 of the victims. The survivors in the area are currently pleading to be removed from the area!
Unlike hundreds of attacks that goes on against Amharas that is never reported, this specific incident seems to garner international attention. However, the number of victims is heavily under reported, additionally narratives that have nothing to do with the long standing ongoing genocide against Amharas are being coupled with the reports. For those who just found the news of the ongoing genocide against Amharas, we advice to dig deeper and stich the patterns of genocide through the horrific massacres, mass murders and mass displacement that happened against Amharas in Ethiopia for the past 30 years with the last 4 years seeing a heavily accelerated execution of the genocide. This specific horrific crime against humanity, the genocide against Amharas, has been under reported not only because of access issues but mainly due to mandated organizations that have geopolitical interest in under reporting these heinous crime.
